Here we are, in the middle of the summer. It has been hot, there has been rain, wind, rabbits and all kinds of other irritants for our dear Head Gardener, but even though the recent July storms have flattened once proud Sunflowers, Sweet Peas, Corn and Cosmos, John Harris soldiers on, undeterred by fly or gnat, earwig or tomato worm. Spirits remain high as our dear Head Gardener tends to the garden and the orchard, judges county shows and tends the corn, always with his eyes set on next year's crop and garden design.
